Party Shank - The evolution of Toystep
Checking through my archive the other day, I came across the Partyshank live body of work. Consisting of members Christian and Howard, who have since parted ways and operate under ‘A1 Bassline’ and ‘TEK-ONE’, in 2008 they were practitioners of the infamous ‘Toystep’ sound. Known to experiment with toy instruments to create their signature sound, these Partyshank frequencies coupled with their famed strobe lighting were known to get the crowd into a mad frenzy.
I have covered many live music gigs in my day, but these were the only sessions where the concern for the safety of my Hasselbald meant it had to be tucked away and the trusty £20 Olympus OM10 from eBay came out to play…
